
Barbour County Historical Society Museum Located 4 miles from Adaland in Philippi, West Virginia and open daily from June to October. Many artifacts related to the Civil War and the battle of Philippi on June 3, 1861 are available for viewing along with the “Philippi Mummies.”
Covered Bridge Originally built in 1852, this bridge is the only double barreled wooden structure on a federal highway and is located near the museum. After a 
dramatic fire in 1989, the bridge was restored using authentic methods of construction.
Other sites nearby include: The Mother’s Day Shrine in Grafton; the Birthplace of Anna Jarvis, founder of Mother’s Day; The Barbour County Courthouse; the walking trail and tour of the Historic District of Philippi; and Alderson-Broaddus College, a private college affiliated with the American Baptist Churches.
